Australia beat New Zealand by eight wickets in T20 World Cup
In the final match of T20 World Cup, Australia defeated New Zealand by eight wickets and won the cup.
Australia completed the 173-run target set by New Zealand to win the match in the 19th over.
David Warner (53), Mitchell Marsh (77 not out) and Glenn Maxwell (28) were the standouts for Australia. Trent Bolt took two wickets for New Zealand. Australia's David Warnes was named Player of the Tournament while Mitchell Marsh was named Man of the Match.
Australia's first loss in pursuit of the target came when Aaron Finch was dismissed for five off a total of 15 runs. The second loss to Australia came when David Warners scored 53 for 107 in the 13th over and was bowled by Trent Bolt.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first.
Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell started the innings for New Zealand. Mitchell was dismissed for 11 while Guptill returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 off 35 balls.
Captain Ken Williamson was dismissed for 85 off 48 balls with three sixes and ten fours.
Australia's Josh Hazelwood bowled three wickets for 16 runs in four overs.
After winning the toss in Dubai, Australian captain Aaron Finch said: "The pitch is a bit dry compared to the semi-final match but hopefully the ball will recover in the second innings."
He said that he has decided to retain the semi-final team.
New Zealand captain Ken Williamson said that if he had won the toss, he would have bowled first.
The Australian team consists of David Warner, Aaron Finch, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Glenn Meskol, Marcus Stevens, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Stark, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood.
The New Zealand squad, on the other hand, includes Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Ken Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Tim Sheffert, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tim Soorthy, Ish Sodhi and Trent Bolt.
