India buys state-of-the-art S400 air defense system from Russia, ignoring US sanctions
New Delhi (Web Desk) - Despite the threat of US sanctions, India has purchased a state-of-the-art S400 air defense system from Russia, and a Russian official said the first unit of the S400 air defense missile system would arrive in India later this year.
According to Geo News, India had signed a 5.5 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for the purchase of missile systems. India may also be subject to US sanctions on the purchase of Russian missile systems. Exemption from the CAATSA Act is unlikely.
Last year, the United States imposed sanctions on Turkey under the law.
