The World Health
Organization (WHO) warned on Monday that the threat posed by the new Code 19
variant Omicron was too high globally. At the same time, he stressed that there
is uncertainty about how contagious and dangerous the new variant is.
The WHO said in a
technical note that if another wave of Corona erupts due to Omicron, the
consequences could be dire. He also said that although there has been no death
related to the Omicron variant so far.
The WHO said it was unclear whether the new Corona variant
was more contagious than other variants, including the Omicron, Delta variant,
and whether it was the cause of the more serious illness. The WHO said that
there was no information available to indicate that the symbols associated with
Omicron were different from other variants.
He said it would take several days to several weeks to
understand the level of seriousness of the Omicron variant.
The WHO said the number of people infected with the variant
had risen in South Africa, but an infectious disease study was underway to
determine if it was caused by omega-3s or other causes. Preliminary figures
show that hospital admissions are on the rise in South Africa, but this could
be due to an increase in the total number of people infected with all variants,
rather than infection with omicron, the organizations said.
Scientists say that the Omicron variant is the result of
multiple mutations. The most contagious form of the corona, B.1.1.1.529, was first
reported to the WHO by South Africa on 24 November. It has since been
identified in Botswana, Belgium, Hong Kong, Israel, the United Kingdom,
Australia, Denmark and the Netherlands.
On November 26, the WHO named it Omicron, a "worrying
variant." The worrying variant is the top category of more dangerous
variants of the WHO coronavirus. Delta variants of the coronavirus were also
placed in the same category.
