An important compromise for the future of the earth ... so far the big news has come out
Participants in UN Conference COP 26 in Scotland. An agreement has finally been reached, with the meeting setting a target of raising global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Changes were made at the last minute, and the participants agreed on a compromise.
Members agreed to limit the average rate of global warming, from pre-industrial levels to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Efforts will be taken forward. According to the agreement, countries will review and strengthen their emissions reduction targets by the end of 2022 to 2030.
The agreement calls on countries to take stronger measures than the 2015 Paris Agreement The new target is to keep the limit at 1.5 degrees Celsius. Under the Glasgow Climate Agreement, developing countries have been asked to take action. Outgoing funding will be increased, in an effort to phase out the relentless generation of electricity from coal.
